AN ARTIST BASED IN HOUSTON, TX AND WORKING EVERYWHERE

I’m an interdisciplinary artist by profession.

When I tell people that, I usually get one of two reactions:

The first is a bright “Wow! Show me your work!”

The second is more of a tilt of the head— a look of pity, like I’m living a broke dream.

But let me explain.

I’m an artist because that’s all I ever wanted to be, in one way or another. It took a long time to get here. Life threw up a few roadblocks, but eventually, I studied art, completed a study abroad program in Italy, and earned my BFA.

Looking back, I’m grateful it took time. If it had happened any earlier, I might have strayed from this path.

Years later, I’m still confident I made the right choice. I hope to do this, my work — telling stories, creating art, and exploring what’s been lost—for as long as my body and mind allow.

I’m also a mother, a cultural explorer, and a holistic health practitioner—roles that inform everything I create.

I wrote more about that journey in this post: “10 Lessons in 10 years…”

Motherhood sharpened my lens on what matters. Cultural exploration deepened my commitment to stories—especially those that risk being forgotten. My background in holistic health reminds me that art, like healing, is layered, intuitive, and deeply rooted in ancestral traditions.

These different sides show up in my work, not always obviously, but always present.
